Native to the Philippines, the Calamansi produces an abundance of small, tart fruits — they taste kind of like a cross between a mandarin orange and a kumquat — that are used to make a lemonade-type drink that’s a favorite refreshment in the island nation. Sometimes referred to as a “calamondin” in the United States, the Calamansi makes a great houseplant thanks to its compact size, glossy green leaves, and fragrant white flowers.
